Mansfield market: Stop closure threats

I would like to make a few comments on the market consultation.

Firstly to help existing market traders and to increase the variety and number of stalls, probably it would be an idea not to repeatedly threaten market closures, as I do not think this encourages new traders, but in my opinion discourages them.

Then to tell traders that if their markets are closed then they could be incorporated into another day’s trading, neither the day or the location have been specified and when asked how this was to be implemented, the traders were told that in all likelihood this would not actually be possible.

There is also the question of how they will accommodate both the Farmers’ Market and the charity markets which occur monthly on a Tuesday.

Maybe they are hoping that many regular traders will leave the market, therefore leaving stalls vacant.

This last point I would like to make is why should they run a love your market campaign offering incentives to new traders when there will in fact not even be enough space for existing traders on a three day market? WHO IS BEHIND THIS AND WHY?
