Government funds will not just be spent on the market

I have just read, via Ben Bradley news, that the Government fund for Mansfield is not just for the market only.

And our wider county residents can suggest other ways to spend some of this grant.

Suggestions please, to Ben Bradley.

I welcome this, because over the years lots of money has been wasted on the mismanagement of our market.

Our once thriving market traders are now thriving, but in Chesterfield.

Every few years it would seem that the council has had to upgrade – or should that be downgrade – the few stalls that we sadly have left.

Are the people of Mansfield allowed to put forward their ideas on the market, I wonder?

After all, we are the ones that will be using it (those of us who have not deserted and gone shopping in Chesterfield that is).

Now the town hall has finally been refurbished, will we, the council-tax payers, be allowed to go inside the building and see where our money has been spent, or have we got to wait whilst all the units are rented out?

Note to council, why don’t we have an open week?

After the vast amount of money that was spent a few years ago cleaning the viaduct. Did nobody foresee the maintenance that it would need for its upkeep?

What we have now is awful black slime on the walls which is caused mainly by the clogged drain pipes, so again, another load of money needs to be spent on the clean up operation.

Surely ongoing maintenance would be cheaper than starting a fresh?

I applaud the people out there who are litter picking.

Again the council needs to start enforcing the laws about dropping it in the first place, and do not let me get started on dog mess, if one or two offenders were fined the rest would soon get the message.

Finally, at last Brexit is done, amen to that. Democracy has prevailed. Nuff said.
