LETTER: Take action if owners don't '˜pick up the poop'

You printed a letter recently from Wayne Thomas commenting on the state of Yeoman Hill Park.

We may be a little biased, but as the friends group we believe Yeoman Hill Park to be a fine green space, with lots of great facilities which are well used by many members of our community.

Now we DO happen to agree with Wayne about dog mess, particularly around the football pitch and our community orchard.

The park is used by many responsible dog owners.
However, a few who do not pick up their dogs mess spoil it for ALL users.

People seem to think they don’t have to do it when it is dark.
We want everyone to “pick up the poop”.

However, Wayne also talks about seeing other people not “pick up”.
We urge Wayne and all visitors to report irresponsible use of the park.
So if you see someone not pick up their dog’s mess, please ring the council wardens on 01623 463463, or use the council’s website to let it know.
The wardens are particularly looking for descriptions of the owners, their dogs and the date and time this happens.
The wardens cannot be on our park all the time but if there are regular days and times this is happening, they can use this information to try to catch the culprits.

As a small group of local residents, we have worked hard over the past 10 years to improve the park, but we could do with more help.
