LETTER: Sad people like '˜Chexiteer' choose to focus on negatives of Chesterfield

I wondered if perhaps Chexiteer’s grievances were some sort of tongue-in-cheek moan, but couldn’t spot the irony. If this person (for we do not know if the writer is male or female) really did live in the 1930s, then he or she does warrant congratulations for reaching a great age. However, I wonder if when he or she was younger that his or her elders used to hanker after ‘the good old days’ when the ‘dog kennel’ slums were in existence. I doubt it.

I am 64 years old and the opposite to a Chexiteer. My wife and I moved here eight-an-a-half years ago, and we are very happy to live in ‘the gateway to the Peak District’. 
We live within walking distance of the town, and walk across regularly.

I personally do not observe negativity or decline. I go about my business, and enjoy life in this area greatly. Okay, I concede to being semi-retired and leading a really quite blissful life.

Chesterfield and its surrounding area has many qualities. I find it sad that some people prefer to accentuate the negative.
