Lee Anderson MP: "Royal Mail delays in Ashfield are unacceptable"

Many Ashfield residents continue to experience significant delays with Royal Mail deliveries.

These delays are causing mail to be missed. Hospital appointments, legal documents, birthday cards, and other time sensitive mail is being delivered late.

To that end I have had several meetings with Royal Mail, including with the Regional Operations Director and Director of External Affairs, in an attempt to address these issues. Our posties are working flat out, they are overworked, underpaid and not appreciated enough in my opinion. But residents deserve a much better service.

A couple of weeks ago I was advised that extra staff had been recruited and there has been a restructuring in management staff locally. Whilst some areas of Ashfield have seen a recent improvement, unfortunately there are still clusters of areas where mail deliveries still fall far foul of the service that residents expect.

I will continue to monitor the situation with the delays, and should they not improve I will once again meet with Royal Mail to demand results for residents.

Potholes continue to be a top issue for residents of Ashfield this week. I want to stress again that this will by no means be an overnight fix. Due to our roads having been neglected for so long under the previous Tory and Labour administrations, it will take some time to get them to where we want them to be.

But rest assured that our new County Councillors and I are getting on with the job and I am confident that residents will see a real difference during Reform UK's premiership at Nottinghamshire County Council. We are completely changing the Council's outlook on road maintenance, with a new First Time approach to fixing potholes, and hopefully, soon we will be seeing some JCB Pothole Pros roaming the streets of Nottinghamshire.

This week our Time for Reform Rally in Birmingham was attended by over two and a half thousand normal common-sense folk, which is more than the Conservatives reportedly got at their entire weekend Conference back in Autumn. Reform UK is the true opposition to the Labour Party and Keir Starmer's Government, which has been hanging on by a thread this week.

Reform UK has started the process of selecting Parliamentary candidates up and down the UK. Whenever the General Election comes, we will be ready to takeover and save this country.
