I’m really glad to hear that Mansfield is at the forefront for funding such as this.

Last week, the Prime Minister announced a £300 million upgrade to A&E services across England.

Sherwood Forest Trust, which is responsible for King’s Mill Hospital, will receive £2 million to make sure it is prepared to continue delivering world- class care in the winter months ahead.

This money can be spent on increasing capacity, reducing waiting times, improving infection control and increasing the provision of same-day emergency care.

This is great news for the hospital, and for local people to make sure they get the best care, building on the measures that are already in place to keep people safe and make sure people who need vital hospital treatment get it.

King’s Mill is a great local asset which we all should be very proud of.

Mansfield is also set to benefit from a £900 million funding pot, which is solely for ‘shovel ready projects’ from the Government’s Get Britain Building Fund.

D2N2 has been working with Government and it has been granted £44 million which is to be used for projects across the East Midlands.

In Mansfield, this money is to be used at the Lindhurst Development to create a spine road which will benefit the urban extension of Berry Hill and surrounding areas, and provide much-needed jobs.

Oak Tree School will also benefit from the condition improvement grant as it will receive more than £80 000 to help modernise and improve facilities.

This is all part of the Government’s promise to make sure schools have the best facilities, to make sure children have the best education they can.

This is great news for the local area, making sure we continue to deliver on our promise to build back better and faster, investing in vital infrastructure like hospitals and schools to create jobs, kickstart our economy and to support our brilliant NHS.

Ben Bradley is MP for Mansfield.
