Mansfield MP says sticking to the rules will get Nottinghamshire out of tier three all the sooner

As the country comes out of a national lockdown, I know people were hoping Nottinghamshire would be in a lower tier but unfortunately it is back in tier three.

I know this isn’t what people wanted, including me, but unfortunately the county isn’t in a place yet where Government feels restrictions can be dropped more significantly.

The current restrictions will be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks and hopefully they can be downgraded to a lower tier.

This will only happen if our numbers continue to fall, so we all need to follow the guidelines and keep each other safe.

I know it has been hard for everyone, but with the vaccine on the horizon we will hopefully get back to some normality in the near future.

I am pushing for them to lift restrictions as soon as possible and will continue to raise this when I can.

Throughout the pandemic, there have been some amazing people who have been working tirelessly for months volunteering and helping in the local community.

For example, Poppy Hickman, a seven-year-old from Woodhouse, has recorded a song at DPS studios in Woodhouse to raise money for Rainbows Hospice for Children and young people, they support young people with life limiting conditions across the East Midlands.

It’s available to buy on Amazon with all proceeds going to the charity.

I’ve also been contacted by Lewis from Shaw Financial Services who is trying to win ‘Best Beard in Financial Services’.

As a twice winner of Parliament’s Beard of the year, I know how important these awards can be.

If he wins, there’s £250 prize money which will be donated to Sherwood Forest food bank.

To buy Poppy’s single or to find the link to vote for Lewis, please go on my Facebook page as they are both there.

All over the place people are volunteering their time and efforts, with a view to helping others and supporting good causes.

If you want to highlight a community champion, let me know and I will share it on my Facebook page.

There are some amazing people across Mansfield, Woodhouse and Warsop and I would like to thank them for everything they are doing.
