The core message is a very simple one – continue to implement social distancing and if you can’t work from home and your workplace is open then go to work.

We’re also now able to spend more time outside the house for exercise, and use places like parks or other open spaces, all the while remembering to keep distant from other households.

The guidance isn’t entirely prescriptive – it’s impossible to list specific do’s and don’t’s for every single individual circumstance.

But Government is asking you to use these basic principles to take sensible decisions.

Your actions are your responsibility, so be safe, protect yourselves and others.

Social distancing is still hugely important but recognising that this will not be possible in many workplaces, more guidance will be published on safety at work.

Whilst it may not be possible to always be two metres apart at work, depending on your job, there will be other measures you can take to stay safe.

It's possible to see family and friends if you can do so outdoors and in a socially distanced way.

There’s nothing to prevent you being on the next picnic blanket down from your sister at the park where you can chat, but please remember you should stay two metres apart.

You need to weigh up the risks and whether this is possible.

It might be that groups of young children are not able to socially distance, for example, and if that’s the case then you should not do it.

These are decisions for you to take, based on what you know about the need to stay distanced.

If you’re shielding you should continue to do so.

As with previous changes, this will be come clearer and more straightforward as it sinks in, and as all of the relevant governing bodies for things like business sectors or sports come forward with their specific guidance for their activities.

Keep a look out for advice, do some research if you are not sure and, if you still can’t find it, then get in touch.
