Open verdict into death of Sutton train death man

A CORONER has recorded an open verdict into the death of a Sutton man who walked in front of a train.

Sixty-five-year-old Carl Bough, of Dalestorth Street, was killed after a collision at a level crossing in Sutton Parkway at around 6.50am on 15th September last year.

A Nottingham inquest was told on Thursday how Mr Bough had been hit after climbing over a safety barrier.

The train driver tried to slow down, but it was too late.

Nottinghamshire coroner, Mairin Casey, told Mr Bough’s family no-one could have predicted his actions.

She said unanswered questions led to her recording an open verdict, rather than one of suicide.

“We simply do not know what Mr Bough was thinking,” she said.
