Open day hopes to attract teachers for county
The reduction in available good quality teachers nationwide has led to a debate highlighting the struggle that schools are facing to recruit, one which experts say is leading to an expensive overuse of supply teachers.
Last year’s applicant numbers reported a healthy response from neighbouring counties, but uptake numbers from Nottinghamshire was mysteriously low. This under recruitment to the teaching profession in Nottinghamshire and has seen a rise in the need for schools to rely on temporary supply staff.

Hide AdPaul Goodman of Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training said: “Nationally we have seen a significant drop in the numbers training to teach, with Nottinghamshire the worst affected in our region.”
Paul added that a new system for recruitment introduced by The National College for Teaching and Learning has not made things easier.
