THREE parks in Mansfield have been honoured with the prestigious Green Flag award after inspections earlier this year.
Carr Bank Park, Titchfield Park and Peafield Park received the national award, which recognises the best parks and green spaces in the country, and is a sign of an excellent, well managed and customer friendly area.
All three parks have benefited from community involvement in recent years with The Maun Conservation Group carrying out practical tasks, events and school visits at Titchfield Park.
The Friends of Peafield Park assist in helping to care for the Peafield Estate facility and last year assisted in planting 5,000 crocus bulbs on the land.
Carr Bank Park recently opened its new £183,000 Edwardian-style bandstand and also had a new war memorial erected in May last year.
Coun Philip Shields, portfolio holder for the environment, praised park staff and Friends groups.
“I’m delighted that our parks have been recognised as high-quality green spaces,” he said.
