The couple just missed out on a place in the final when the judges picked sword-swallower Alex Magala to go through ahead of them, in Monday’s live semi final.

But judges, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon, gave the duo another chance and chose them as the wildcard in a vote on Thursday night.

Peter and Shannon have both danced professionally with the Northern Ballet and came out of retirement two years ago to teach dancing on a freelance basis.

They decided to enter Britain’s Got Talent following their success on the Sky One show, Got To Dance, in 2014.

Peter said: “We thought we would go for it – it is one of the biggest TV shows in the world and it was great to get through to the live shows.

“But when you are working on the TV there are so many pieces of the jigsaw, people pulling you from left to right – you are not on your own schedule and that can be tiring.

The Britain’s Got Talent live final takes place tonight (Saturday, May 28) at 7.30pm on ITV1.
