Notts: Return to the magical world of pop-up theatre at county libraries

Pop-Up Flashback, will be performed in seven libraries in February during half term– the latest show as part of the county council’s Children’s Pop-Up Theatre project in partnership with The Spark Arts for Children.

Performances will be supported by a number of exciting poetry making workshops in 12 libraries.

Pop-Up Flashback is a Word Pepper production presented by Half Moon, and is a fusion of giant pop-up books and poetry, brought ingeniously to life by performance poet and actor Joseph Coelho who has appeared on the CBeebies hit show Rhyme Rocket.

Joseph Coelho is the award-winning writer, performer and co-founder of Word Pepper Theatre Company with author, illustrator and paper-engineer John O’Leary and they have an impressive track record of success within the arts and entertainment world.

We expect this latest production to be equally keenly received by people of all ages.

These exciting performances have been programmed by The Spark Arts for Children on behalf of the county council.

The county council announced in May 2015 that it had received £82,477 National Lottery funding through Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts Libraries Fund to create the year-long Children’s Pop-Up Theatre project hosting exciting family theatre productions in Nottinghamshire libraries.

In Pop-Up Flashback, audiences enter an imaginative world of memories through thought-provoking poetry and incredible pop-up books in a funny and heart-warming adventure of complicated families and growing up.

Sebastian’s memories aren’t like everyone else’s.

His are wonderful poetic memories from the pages of his colourful pop-up books.

He remembers troll kings and mermaid queens, deep sea diving super heroes and city smashing dinosaurs.

But there’s one memory that takes particular pride of place - the very special gift that his Dad bought him.

Performances at Worksop and Retford are both on February 19, Worksop at 11am and Retford at 3pm.

Performances at Mansfield central library are at 11am and 2pm on February 20.
