Notts officer fired over off-duty behaviour

A sergeant has been dismissed from the force following an investigation into his off-duty behaviour on a coach trip to London.

The 31-year-old officer, who has not been named, was found guilty of gross misconduct at a disciplinary hearing following an internal investigation.

He appealed the dismissal, but the original decision was upheld after an appeal review.

An internal investigation was carried out after the officer was reported to have exposed himself and carried out a lewd act on a coach carrying 51 off-duty Nottinghamshire officers returning from a police rally in London on 10 May last year.

DCC Sue Fish said: “We expect high standards from everyone working for Nottinghamshire Police, both on and off duty. The overwhelming majority of officers and staff demonstrate the highest standards of ethics and conduct on a daily basis. However behaviour like this will not be tolerated, as we do not want people like this representing the force and serving the public.”
