A widespread frost is expected after dark, with road surface temperatures dropping below freezing. Drivers are being warned that patchy ice is likely on roads which remain wet or damp from any recent rain.

Notts County Council’s gritting teams went out for the first time this season on 5th November.

Gritters have been on full-time standby since the start of November and will remain that way until the end of March next year – or later if necessary.

The authority currently has 19,221 tonnes of salt stored in its four grit barns and is in a strong position to deal with the worst winter conditions.
