Notts: Fewer homes are being burgled, new statistics reveal

The end of year performance figures for the last financial year show there were 408 fewer home burglaries in Notts in 2014/15 compared to the previous year.

There were 4,482 in 2013/14 and 4,074 in 2014/15 which is a reduction of 9.1 per cent.

During the same period robbery has also fallen by 6.1 per cent from 1,075 in 2013/14 to 1,009 in 2014/15.

Deputy Chief Constable Sue Fish said: “Reducing burglary is a priority of Notts Police.”

“A lot of effort has gone into tackling what is a devastating and intrusive crime and we are pleased to see that work bearing fruit.”

“In recent years we have made great strides in tackling burglary through research into crime trends, targeted, intelligence-led operations - both uniformed and covert - as well as robust offender management.”

“However, despite this good news we will not grow complacent and can assure the public that reducing burglary will continue to be a priority for the force.”

“We would not want people to see these figures and worry that there has been a steep rise in rapes and sexual assaults in Notts.”

“The rise is in no small part down to offences having occurred some time ago and now, because of the increased confidence of victims in a police investigation, people are having the confidence to report those crimes to us.”

“This is a welcome development and shows people have faith they will be listened to, supported and a full investigation will be carried out to bring perpetrators to justice.”
