POLICE are investigating the death of a woman at Creswell Crags in Derbyshire.
The woman’s body was found in the river at the crags just before 6.30pm yesterday (Tuesday).
She is believed to be a 54-year-old woman from Nottinghamshire but a formal identification has not yet been carried out.
Officers are keeping an open mind about the circumstances around her death. A post mortem examination will be carried out to determine how she died.
Anyone who was at Creswell Crags yesterday should contact the police on 101.
Det Chief Insp Andy Sproson, from Derbyshire Police, said: “Unfortunately we have had to ask for the crags to be closed to the public while we continue our enquiries. We apologise for any inconvenience to tourists and local people.”
It was confirmed that Creswell Crags will be re-opened again tomorrow.
