Mr Swann is one of nine individuals to receive honours for services to the fire and rescue sector. The recognition comes at the end of a long career in the fire and rescue service for Mr Swann, who will retire from his role as CFO at the end of March 2014.

Chairman of the Fire Authority Coun Darrell Pulk said it was a great honour, not only for Mr Swann but for the Service and Fire Authority as a whole, that he had been recognised in this way.

“To be awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal as he approaches the end of his career in the fire and rescue service is a great honour for Frank and is testament to his hard work, dedication and commitment, not only to his role as a leader and figurehead, but also to the work of the whole of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service,” he said.

“I am sure that his colleagues, staff, Fire Authority members and the public alike will join me in sending warm congratulations to Frank for the recognition he has received for this long and outstanding service.”
