Nottinghamshire faith leaders meet together

Faith leaders in Nottinghamshire will meet police and health chiefs to discuss issues facing the community in an interfaith meeting.

Members of the Muslim and Jewish faiths, the United Reform Church, Methodist, Independent, Baptist and Anglican churches will all be represented at the meeting on 6th May, including the Archdeacon of Nottingham, the Ven Peter Hill and the Bishop of Sherwood, the Rt Revd Tony Porter.

The leaders including two bishops will join Police Commissioner, Paddy Tipping and the Chief Executive of One Nottingham at the home of Rabbi Moshe Perez.

Rev porter said: “As faith leaders we all want to contribute to the life and vibrancy of the city and county and especially to work together for those who feel excluded.”

The regular Interfaith meetings aim at building relationships, and as well as contributions from Paddy Tipping there will be discussions on mental health issues led by Dr Michele Hampson, Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, and input from John McCallum, Near Neighbours Development Worker.

Nottingham Interfaith Council and Nottingham Community Voluntary Service will also be represented.
