Nottinghamshire County Council gritting teams will be out tonight

GRITTING teams from Nottinghamshire County Council will be hitting the roads again tonight (Friday) completing their 130th salting run this season.

With temperatures set to be as low as minus 3C in some areas, the council’s gritters will be salting all A and B roads and main bus routes.

As well as marking the 130th run since salting began back on October 26, tonight will also be the 20th consecutive night that gritters have been out recently.

Two years ago, during the severe winter of 2010/11, the teams set a record for gritting runs by going out 108 times – a record that has now been well and truly beaten.

Last year, the crews went out four times in April, the last time being on 16th April. That total will be surpassed tonight.
