Catherine Elliott, who is 40-years-old was excited to reunite with friends from Sherwood Hall School which is now The Samworth Church Academy.

However her plans were scuppered when Thorsby’s Flashback Festival was cancelled a few weeks before it was to go ahead in August and she has still not received a refund.

The festival was due to host a line up including 80s chart toppers Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and Altered Images.

Catherine now lives in Middlesbrough and had booked travel and time off work to get down to Mansfield and was ‘surprised’ to find out it had been cancelled.

She said: “Me and my friends were all turning 40, we had all been in the past and had a good time.

“I was not expecting it to be cancelled, it was disappointing.

“I was specially looking forward to seeing OMD and Go West.”

She also said how none of her friends have received a refund.

Catherine sent an email to the festivals organisers, UK Events and Production, in September but received not reply and is now pursuing the refund with her credit card company.

We are waiting for a comment from the festival’s organisers.
