Newark Air Museum to host latest Open Cockpit Week

The Newark Air Museum is hosting an extensive series of special events for the 2012 season and the first of these is the half-term Open Cockpit Week.

The event runs from 11th to 19th February and on each day during this period at least one aircraft cockpit will be open for inspection (an additional fee of 50p is charged to access the cockpit).

Amongst those aircraft expected to be open are the Canberra B(I)8, the Shackleton and the Vulcan.

For this new season the museum trustees have introduced height restrictions for access to some aircraft as displayed on site.

Initially this applies to the Vulcan and Buccaneer aircraft, which both have steep access ladders and anyone wishing to go inside these aircraft (when they are opened by the museum volunteers) will have to be at least 1m (one metre) in height.

The musuem will be open between 10am and 4pm with the last admission at 3pm.

Prices are £7 adults, over 60s are £6, Children £4 and a family ticket (two adults and three children) £20.00.

Regular updates about which cockpits will be open on each day will be posted on the news page of the museum { |website|Newark Air Museum}
