If granted planning consent, the proposals will mark a multi-million-pound investment, which will see Lidl commit to building a 2,125 m. sq store on a 10,360 m. sq site, creating up to 40 new jobs for local people and providing a significant boost to the local economy.

The new supermarket will boast state-of-the-art facilities including an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing facilities, customer toilets, space for baby changing and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.

The company anticipates that a decision will be made on the application very shortly and is hopeful that the proposals will be presented to the council’s Planning Committee on Thursday 14 December 14.

Lidl UK’s Regional Head of Property, Joanne Hawley, said:

“We have received an incredible amount of support from the local community and continue to work closely with the Council to bring a new store to Mansfield Road.

“If we can get a positive decision in December, we will be on site in April starting the build so recruitment can start early 2018.

“We still need local people to help us though. Without their support for this development, planning permission is not guaranteed.

“As part of our ongoing expansion plans in the Ashfield District, we are also continuing to explore various options to bring further stores to other towns in Ashfield District Council’s area.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and feedback so far and look forward to receiving a positive decision in the near future.”
