New Lidl store could be coming to Mansfield Woodhouse

Discount supermarket chain Lidl has submitted a planning application to Mansfield District Council for a new supermarket at the former Rippon Homes Head Office on Leeming Lane South, Mansfield Woodhouse.

In a boost to the economy, the supermarket will provide 50 full times jobs for people in the area.

The site is very close to the ward of Carr Bank where unemployment is estimated at 3.9 per cent, the fifth highest in the county.

The application includes 103 parking spaces, of which six are disabled and eight are parent and child.

The existing site entrance on Leeming Lane South will be widened and reshaped to accommodate service vehicles.

Trading hours would be 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

The store will typically receive just one 16.5m articulated vehicle combined delivery and collection once per day.

Buses run half hourly along this route between Mansfield, Meden Vale, Warsop and Shirebrook.

The site is also within a 5 km cycling radius of the entire Mansfield urban area.

There have also been discussions about a drive through restaurant on the site.
