New leaflet aims to encourage residents to enjoy Derbyshire countryside

The free leaflets are aimed at those wanting to cycle, horse-ride or gain easy access to the countryside.

The Cycle Derbyshire leaflet shows a range of routes for all to enjoy – from family-friendly off road trails to long distance trails. It also gives information about where bikes can be hired from.

Horse Ride Derbyshire shows that the county is the perfect place to explore on horse back. It gives details of traffic-free trails, bridleways and byways that connect beautiful countryside and quiet villages through green hills and rugged open moorland.

And Access Derbyshire gives information on places that can be enjoyed by those on disability scooters, wheelchairs or pushchairs. It also gives details of where Trampers, all-terrain vehicles that can be used by people with mobility difficulties, can be hired.

Coun Andy Botham, Derbyshire County Council’s deputy cabinet member for jobs, economy and transport, said: “We want to encourage everyone to enjoy Derbyshire’s stunning scenery and we hope that these leaflets will help to do just that.

“There are horse-riding and cycling routes for all to enjoy. And our Access Derbyshire guide promotes easy access for everyone to enjoy the countryside.”

The leaflets have been distributed to countryside sites around the county. They can be can be downloaded at www.derbyshire.gov.uk, or free copies are available from libraries, tourist information centres or from Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190.
