Gunthorpe-based arts company Chronicle Arts has received funding for an independent film festival.

The Can-Do Film Festival takes is set to take place at Thoresby Courtyard, Newark on 12th April next year.

It is for low and no budget filmmakers in Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands.

The Festival has been funded through Nottinghamshire County Council’s small arts fund.

Due to further funding from the county council and Newark and Sherwood District Council, the company is also offering a range courses in film-making which it says will complement the new festival.

Spokesman Gillian Bates said: “The Can-Do Film Festival itself is very exciting, and now we can also offer a range of courses to encourage people to make creative low budget films .”
