New crossing planned for Bulwell road

A feasibility study is to be carried out for the proposed crossing on Hempshill Lane, near the recreation park and Northern Cemetery, as part of the council’s capital programme for this year.

At a meeting of Nottingham’s Bulwell and Bulwell Forest Area Committee this week, it was reported that this would be a priority scheme to decide on the best way to provide the crossing.

But one committee member commented: “This seems a lot of money just to see if the crossing can be put in.”

Other priority projects for Bulwell during 2014 are the patching of a footpath on Norwich Gardens at an estimated cost £8,245 and a disabled parking bay on Squires Avenue, including a traffic regulation order (estimated cost £1,600).

Up to £5,500 is to be spent to extend double yellow lines on Brownlow Drive, Rise Park to reduce a ‘nuisance’ created by school parking.

The pavement immediately outside Rise Park School on Bestwood Park Drive West will be resurfaced at an estimated cost of £5,200. the work starting during the Easter holiday.

A safety survey will be carried out around the site of a potential disabled parking bay on Bannerman Road.

A zebra crossing on Highbury Road, Bulwell is to be upgraded with Zebrite ‘halo’ lighting at a cost estimated at £5,000 for increased safety.

Another proposal is for about £700 to be spent on installing signs and a way mark line on the Bulwell Forest footpath to guide walkers and prevent incursion onto the golf course.
