'˜Nasty and manipulative' thug who put Mansfield woman '˜in fear for life' spared jail

Jamie Hastie, of Clyne Court in Sketty, Swansea and who used to live in Nottinghamshire, was jailed for 23 months suspended for two years at Nottingham Crown Court yesterday (September 10).
The 28-year-old was arrested after the victim reported to the police that he had posted private images of her on the internet and, during the investigation, a number of other crimes were uncovered.

Hide AdThese included occasions where he’d grabbed the woman by the throat, smashed property belonging to her, harassment and making threats to kill her.
During various court cases, he pleaded guilty to criminal damage and assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was found guilty of putting a person in fear of violence by harassment. These offences also encompassed other offences of assault and threats to kill.
Detctive Constable Rachael Shooter said: “I’m pleased that this case has finally been brought to a close with a positive result for our victim who has shown immense bravery throughout.
“Hastie has put her and the witnesses through two trials, pleading guilty to the final offences only days before the second trial in July.
