Sarah Windibank, mum of two, wanted to raise money for Tommy’s, which funds research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, after her mum gave birth to a still born boy named Carl before Sarah was born.

Sarah’s sister also miscarried twins a few years ago.

The 33-year-old, who has completed two half-marathons before said she might be “crawling over the finish line,” after a foot operation in November set her training back.

The North Avenue resident is now just around the corner from her latest challenge – a brand new half-marathon, which is set to take place for the first time. The London Landmarks Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 25, and will pass a range of famous landmarks.

Sarah said: “I quite fancied running around London, which is why I signed up for the half marathon.

“While losing a baby hasn’t affected me directly it is something that has had an impact and this charity has helped so many with the research they’ve done if nothing else.”

Sarah is hosting a coffee morning to help raise extra funds, at Coopers Rise Community Room, Rainworth, 11 to 2pm on Saturday, March 17.

She said: “The support I have had from the community has been phenomenal, everyone has been asking if they can bake cakes.”
