The court heard Taylor-Merritt had consumed a large amount of wine the night before, after receiving ‘difficult family news.’

District Judge Jonathan Taaffe said: “You put your life at risk and more importantly the lives of other people and two young children.”

She was disqualified for 30 months and placed on a 7pm to 6am curfew for six weeks. She must also pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
