MP says no time to focus on other seat candidates

Ashfield’s parliamentary seat is set to be contested by a new party in the next general election.

Justice for Men & Boys (J4MB) campaigns against ‘state assaults on the human rights of men, boys and girls when denied access to their fathers following family breakdowns.’

Party leader Mike Buchanan hopes to unseat current Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero and push for a number of male rights issues at national level.

Said Mr Buchanan: “For over 30 years, men’s and boy’s human rights have been assaulted by politicians pandering to the demands of women driven by feminist MPs, as well as feminists in key positions in state institutions.

“The family court system, for example, fails to ensure fathers and their children enjoy reasonable access to each other following family breakdowns.

“Denial of access is emotional abuse of children, fathers, grandparents and others.”

Mr Buchanan said he had been left shocked by a poster in Ms De Piero’s constituency office window for a domestic violence helpline which showed an image of a woman.

He claims the poster represents the crime as one which is only perpetrated by men against women.

He added: “Gloria De Piero retained the Ashfield seat for Labour with a razor-thin majority of only 192 votes.

“Can she really afford to treat half her electorate in such a contemptuous manner, presenting domestic violence as a phenomenon where only women are victims and only men are perpetrators?”

Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero said: “My priority in this job is to serve the people of Ashfield, so I do not spend a great deal of time focusing on who may or may not be running for election.

“Being the MP for Ashfield means standing up for everyone, such as fighting for an £8 minimum wage for the lowest paid workers in Ashfield benefiting both men and women, pay transparency so women can challenge unequal pay, getting a guaranteed 48-hour appointment with a doctor, 25 hours free childcare for working mums and dads with 3 and 4 year-olds and getting the next generation back into work with a compulsory jobs guarantee for young people out of work for a year and the over-25s out of work for two years.”
