Gloria De Piero MP has pledged to help tackle unemployment in area and bring new hope to those looking for a job by hosting another jobs fair in conjunction with Ashfield District Council, the DWP and Vision West Nottinghamshire College on Friday October 23.

A similar event organised last year was hailed a massive success and it turned out to be one of the largest the region had seen – with over 900 people passing through the doors by the end of the day.

With the final plans well underway, the MP has revealed that over 40 stands have now been snapped up by big name businesses and smaller employers and organisations – with just a few spaces left with days to go.

Jobseekers and those in work but looking for a change in career will be brought together with employers with posts to fill at the Festival Hall in Kirkby between 10am-3pm.

Ikea, Trent Barton, E-on, Van Elle and Welcome Foods are just some of companies showcasing what jobs are on offer to local folk.

The MP said; “At the last count there was still 1,294 people in Ashfield out of work, including 338 youngsters, so there’s no doubt that unemployment remains of the biggest problems our area faces.

“Over 250 people managed to land positions as a result of last year’s event, including Skegby girl Alice Bates who is now ten months into a great job with Pendragon and she hasn’t looked back.

“I couldn’t have been prouder to have helped make a difference and I’m really confident this jobs fair will be a resounding success too.

There’s no shortage of talent and we’ve got some great firms signed up again.”

A small number of support organisations will also be on hand to provide expert career guidance and advice.
