Miss Mansfield on way to smashing charity target

The reigning Miss Mansfield is celebrating the halfway point in the role '“ and is well on the way to smashing her charity target.

Jessica Pinnick pledged to raise £5,000 to sponsor a Guide Dog puppy when she was crowned Miss Mansfield and Sherwood 2017 earlier this year.

And the 24-year-old has already raised £3,700.

She said: “I have volunteered for a few years with the charity, I love dogs.

“I also knew Nathan Edge, who lost his sight while I knew him.

“His relationship with his guide dog, Hudson, and how he has given Nathan’s independence back is what inspired me.”

Jessica has raised money though collections at supermarkets and raffles, as well as being sponsored to tackle a 5km inflatable obstacle course, to name just a few fundraising events.

She also got the chance to travel to another Mansfield and meet the reigning Miss Mansfield in Ohio, USA.

During her trip, Jessica attended a variety of events including a meeting with the Rotary Club, celebrity waitressing at famous American restaurant chain Applebee’s and two charity luncheons where she spoke about Guide Dogs.

She said: “Being Miss Mansfield and Sherwood has been amazing.

“It is one of the best things I have ever done. I have been thrown into experiences I never would have done before.

“I am only at six months, so I have it all over again.”
