CHAD reader David Clay asks: “Can any readers shed any light on the location of this picture on a Mansfield postcard dated 1908. The sign at the back says R. Blythe. Family Butcher. 29 Westgate.
“According to the Traders Directories he was listed there from 1899.”
David suspects it is taken from the Newgate Lane area as the background looks like the field known as Jacksons Hill and there was a school on Newgate Lane in 1890 between Heywood Street and Sandy Lane.
