Memorial plan for Ciaran

The charity day was held in the Hathersage Community Hall on the Oak Tree estate, near to his family’s home, which saw a raffle, tombola and a number of stalls rake in more than 
£691.

Named the Ciaran Sweeney Memorial Fund, the event is one of a series planned in the hope of eventually creating a 
lasting tribute to the 14-year-old.

They have set themselves a target of £3,000.

Ciaran, who was a Samworth Academy pupil, was reported missing on 14th September following a family argument, and police became increasingly concerned of his whereabouts as the weeks went
by .

A body was then found on Tuesday 1st October at the quarry off Southwell Road, and police confirmed days later that it was that of Ciaran’s.

However, police say it could be weeks before the full circumstances into his death are revealed.
