MELANIE WILSON: Sutton woman died after taking prescription meds

Melanie Wilson was found dead in November after a community search involving hundreds of volunteers.

The inquest into the death of Sutton woman Melanie Wilson is set to be concluded on April 25.

An inquest opening heard at Nottingham Council House on Monday heard that post-mortem examinations undertaken on November 5 found the 22-year-old had died after taking an antidepressant, and a medicine used in the treatment of insomnia, before she was found dead on November 4.

In tribute to Melanie, her best friend, Emma Walker, a mum-of-two, described her 'soul mate' who was always held everyone's attention.

Melanie's body was discovered in the garden of an unoccupied house. Her family await closure as an inquest into her death is due to be concluded. (SWNS)

Emma, 28, said: "She was so funny and we always laughed about stupid things. She had the limelight in every room, and always had everybody's attention.

"I'd describe her as caring. Mel was always there for me, with whatever I've been through, she' always picked me up. We've laughed together, and cried together we were soul mates.

The search as led by volunteers at 'Where There's Hope', which was established after the disappearance of Amber Peat from her house in Mansfield.

Leader Kirsty Hannah, 30, said after the search: "Even though I've never met Melanie I've been very emotional. We've heard all about her from friends and family and you feel like you get to know a person."

The inquest was adjourned for a conclusion on April 25.
