Craig Norwood (28) will race in the Great North Run in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
The Budby Crescent resident is hoping to raise more than £1,000 after losing his mother to the illness when he was younger. He says every pound will make a difference to help fight cancer.
“Most people know someone who has been affected by cancer and so it’s great to be able to give something back by raising money to help them,” he said.
It’s not the first time that Craig has raised money for Breast Cancer Care, having participated in a 10km run and a skydive in 2005.
And Craig, who works for drinks dispenser company Three Nations Ltd, outlined his intention to help out even more.
He said: “I think it’s great how they bring people affected by breast cancer together and offer such amazing support.
“I’m no Mo Farah but I thought that I’d try to raise money this way and would love to push myself and run the London Marathon in the future.
“I’m looking forward to having a well earned drink after I’ve finished.”
