Organisers have been busy putting the last minute details together for what promises to be a terrific community event for Hucknall.

Broomhill Junior School, together with Butler’s Hill Infants and the Hucknall Children’s Centre, all based on Broomhill Road, have combined their efforts and organised a May Fair which takes place tomorrow, Saturday 3rd May.

Volunteers have brought together a selection of entertainment and stalls as well as activities for the whole family to enjoy during the FREE event which runs from 11am-2pm.

“We are really looking forward to the day and just praying for good weather,” said one of the lead organisers, Sara Duffin.

“This is the first time we have held a large full-scale event like this and the aim is not just about fundraising for the three centres but also as a way of bringing all the community together for the day.”

There will be a central arena for displays from kick-boxing to circus juggling, Zumba to dancing.

The White Post Farm willalso be in attendance with a selection of animals for children to pet and observe.

Youngsters and their parents will have the chance to try dancing around the Maypole.

“Children have been practising at school and will be giving a demonstration on the day,” added Sara. “But visitors will get the chance to have a go themselves too.”

Activities will be divided between the school field site and inside the Children’s Centre.

“There will be plenty for everybody to do including craft activities inside led by the centre’s staff,” added Sara who forms part of the Friends of Broomhill group, made up of parent volunteers who run fundraising events.

The event has been supported by Hucknall’s district councillors who have jointly given organisers £400 to spend on bringing activities in for the day.

“We are really looking forward to the day and hoping the Hucknall community will support it and come along and have fun.”
