Broxtowe Masonic Lodge held a recent service to mark the end of their centenary year.

Held at the Old Meeting House on Stockwell Gate, and attended by more than 130 people, it was conducted jointly by the minister, Rev Patrick Timperley and Coun David Burton, a lay preacher and vice president of the East Midland District Association of Unitarian Churches.

There was also a performance from local girl’s choir, The Singers, under the direction of Meryl Chambers.

A £1,000 cheque was presented on behalf of the members of the lodge, to the Rev Derek Smith, a trustee of the ‘Send a Child to Hucklow’.

It concluded with the laying of a wreath on the grave of John Harrop White, the lodge’s first master in 1913.
