Mascot to defend his title in Macmillan race

Superdick, the mascot of County Battery, which has a shop in Kirkby, will be on superhero duty this weekend by participating in the annual Community Racing Day at Nottingham Racecourse to raise cash for Macmillan.

The annual racing day, on Sunday May 22, is part of an initiative to raise funds and help thousands of people battling cancer in Nottingham.

The day is full of free entertainment, games and pony rides for children along with seven horse races.

However, the highlight of the afternoon is the sporting and corporate mascot race, where Superdick will be representing County Battery as the defending champion.

Richard Fuller, managing director, said: “County Battery family is extremely proud and inspired to be part of such a noble cause and are working on different avenues to raise funds for Macmillan.

“With more people being diagnosed for cancer, Macmillan is in a greater demand and our aim toraise £1000 or even more which will help support range of services that they provide and make a difference to individuals and their families affected by cancer.”
