March to save NHS will pass through Ashfield

The 300 mile trek in protest against privatising the National Health Service has been inspired by the famous march of 1936, against poverty and unemployment.

Next Thursday (28th August at 10am) hundreds of protestors will set off from King’s Mill Hospital and march through Ashfield. 

To raise awareness of the cause, the ‘999 People’s March for the NHS’ will cover over 300 miles and travel through 23 towns and cities on its way to London, retracing the footsteps of the 207 marchers who marched from Jarrow to Parliament during the Great Depression.

To show her support for the mums and all the other demonstrators fighting for the NHS, MP Gloria De Piero will join marchers at the beginning of the section of the walk when they make their way through her constituency and onto Nottingham.
