Mansfield Woodhouse parents celebrate the new year after IVF joy

Caroline found out five years ago that her fallopian tubes were blocked.

With the support of electrician husband Christopher, she was referred on the NHS to CARE Fertility at Nottingham Business Park.

After treatment, they overjoyed when to discover she was expecting their first child - Indie - who was born in 2015 without any complications.

A few years down the line and hundreds of nappy changes later, the Gilberts, of Muirfield Way, Mansfield Woodhouse, decided to try for a second child.

This time they paid privately, with 34-year-old Caroline sharing half her eggs to hopefully give the gift of life to another.

Although the outcome of her generous donation remains confidential, Caroline is thrilled she has been able to help another struggling woman possibly conceive.

And there was another happy outcome for the couple, after a second round of IVF produced a second baby, Pixie, who turns one next month.

Caroline said: "I felt I would like to give other people help. When I first started the IVF, I thought it was never going to work.

"I got down about never having children. I want people to know that it can work and there can be a happy ending. I felt like giving up. I thought 'that's it I will never have children'."

When asked if she will have a third child she said: "I'll try once more. I definitely want another! I just love babies".
