A Mansfield woman who discovered she had a brain tumour aged just 26 now wants to raise money in a unique way - by throwing a wedding dress party.
Jade Newton, now 29, from Clipstone, started feeling tired and having dizzy spells in January 2015.
Although she first put her illness down to the dark nights, she then began vomiting daily.
After having to take time off work, Jade kept going back to her doctors thinking she had vertigo, or an inner ear infection. Jade was then sent for a scan at Queens Medical Centre, where it was discovered she had a growth in her brain.
Jade said: "My doctor sent me for a scan, just to get me to the ear, nose and throat clinic faster.
"That scan picked up a growth in my brain.
"To say I was shocked is an understatement.
"A brain tumour was something that happened to other people, I never expected something so serious and dramatic could happen to me.
"My brain tumour was removed thirteen days after it was identified by the excellent team at Queens Medical Centre.
"It has been a really long to recovery, and I am still on it, and it has changed my life.
"I cannot pretend for a minute that I am not one of the lucky ones.
"Brain tumours are an awful affliction, that really can affect anybody, at and age, in any walk of life."
To raise money and awareness for the Brian Tumour Charity, Jade has organised a wear you wedding dress party, where brides and grooms can get dressed up in their wedding attire for another night.
Jade said: "The dress code is for brides to get in their wedding dresses, grooms in their wedding suits, and everybody else in their best wedding get up!"
The evening is on September 29, and will include a raffle, an auction, and the chance for couples to recreate their first dance.
The event is bring your own beer, and will take place at the Dallas Street resource centre, Mansfield.
Jade said: "The Brain Tumour Charity support individuals and families affected by brain tumours.
"They also fund essential research into prevention and a cure in the fight against brain tumours."
There will be plenty of top prizes available during the raffle and auction on the night, including a VIP tour of Old Trafford, two tickets for a tour of the Coronation Street set, tickets to Mansfield Town and Nottingham Forest games, and much more.
