Mansfield town centre shop robbed of £10,000

Police are appealing information after a shop in Mansfield town centre was robbed of up to £10,000.

The robbery took place at Cheapest Cigs in Town on Stockwell Gate at around 8.30am on Monday.

A man, described as being black skinned and aged between 20 and 30 and wearing a top with a hood up entered the shop at and made threats to the shopkeeper before fleeing with the money.

A police spokesman said: “A substantial amount of money was taken during this robbery and detectives are working to identify the man responsible.

“The robbery took place at a time when many people would have been heading to work.

“If you saw anything suspicious or a man matching this description then please call nottinghamshire police on 101.”
