Jobs may be lost as Tesco Extra cuts the opening hours of its Mansfield store, the Chad has learned.
The store in Chesterfield Road is one of 20 to see reduced hours, as it changes to open at 6am and close at midnight.
In addition, 46 stores will move from a full night replenishment to a twilight/evening replenishment.
Tony Hoggett, Tesco UK COO said: “We’re making some changes to the way a small number of our stores operate to help us run them more simply and deliver the best possible service to customers. Where there have been changes to a colleague’s role we will work with them to ensure they are fully supported.”
The company said the changes include bringing together different customer service desks so that shoppers can get everything they need in one place, and simplifying some tasks – such as the way we approach our General Merchandise operations.
Managers stated the way customers are shopping is changing so the company is ensuring stores are run to fit their needs in the 'most helpful' way.
Some job cuts will take place, added the chain of retailers.
Tesco said: "Colleagues affected by the changes will be supported to find alternative roles, either within the store or within another local store, if this is what they would like to do. The consultation period for colleagues is 45 days.
Around 300 stores will continue to operate 24 hour opening times. Here is the full list of the stores losing 24-hour trading.
