Mansfield teenager banned from an estate in Kirkby after driving his motorbike without due care

Alex Swain, of Coxs Lane in Mansfield Woodhouse, appeared at Mansfield Magistrates' Court on Thursday, September 13, where he was found guilty of driving without due care and attention, driving without a license and driving without insurance.

It follows a police investigation into reports of Swain driving his motorbike and behaving antisocially in the Coxmoor area of Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

The court recognised this by issuing him with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), which bans him from the Coxmoor area for two years or acting in a manner that could cause any offence to people in the town. Swain was also banned from driving for a year and given 24 points on his license.

Sergeant Carl Holland, from the Ashfield neighbourhood policing team, said: “Swain thought he could get away with driving illegally and his disqualification shows that this is not the case. This is a fantastic result for the community of the Coxmoor estate, as we believe he has been causing issues for a number of years.

“The CBO shows that people committing antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated and the partners will take action against the perpetrators using the full force of the law, to protect the community."

Councillor Christian Chapman, Cabinet Member for Crime Prevention and Community Safety at Ashfield District Council, said: “The Council, in conjunction with the Police, is working hard to tackle the ongoing issues in Coxmoor. We are determined to make the area a place that people want to, and are proud to live in.

“The Criminal Behaviour Order issued to Alex Swain demonstrates the Council will use all the powers we have in order to make our streets and estates safe, and that behaviour like this from the few will not be tolerated.”
