Mansfield school raises money for school leavers

An academy school is fundraising to hold aschool leavers.

East Midlands Vocational Academy in Mansfield provides vocational courses for young people in the North Nottinghamshire.

Many of the children who attend the school don’t have the same opportunities as others, so the evening is being greatly anticipated by youngsters.

Nichola Heyes, a spokesperson for the school said: “The children are really exited for the evening, and on board for fundraising. It’s given them something to look forward to and it’s been a great incentive.”

She added: “Every other year 11 school leaver gets to have an end of year event, and it’s only right that our pupils do too.”

Staff and pupils will be holding a fundraising day on June 2 at Dallas Street Resource Centre, where there will be a car wash, cake sale and a raffle.

Their aim is to raise £500 to cover the costs of food, drink, music and party essentials, to make sure that the pupils have some well deserved fun.

The night will consist of an awards ceremony and presentations, along with food, drink and music, so the pupils can let their hair down after all their hard work.

Parents and carers are also invited to the evening, to celebrate what their children have achieved.
