“I never expected such a big amount and I’ll definitely enjoy spending it. I’ve lived in my house for 60 years so home improvements will be at the top of my list. I have 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren so I’ll be able to treat them and we’ll have a big family get-together to celebrate this fantastic news.”
Margaret’s next door neighbour also scooped the top prize. Lesley Swift, a 61-year-old health care assistant, who signed up to play People’s Postcode Lottery just over a year ago, said: “It’s an unbelievable feeling to win and winning with neighbours and as part of a community makes it that little bit more special. This win means that I’ll be able to retire from work and hopefully plan a few holidays away with my family and grandchildren. We love to travel throughout Scotland so now we’ll be able to buy a campervan and go touring.”
Alan Kemp, a 51-year old support worker for autistic adults, was also among those picking up a prize. He was joined by wife Lisa when he discovered how much he’d scooped and said: “I’m flabbergasted to say the least and feel on top of the world. Myself and Lisa are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary on the 5th of September so we’ll be having a double celebration now”

She said: “Kimberley gave birth to my 11th grandchild just 18 days ago and he’s currently in the special care baby unit as he’s been poorly. We’re hopeful that he’ll be getting out today so it’s been an unbelievable weekend of the most amazing news”
Local nurse Lisa Bailey, aged 44, signed up because of all the charities she knew she’d be helping to support by playing and loved winning with her neighbours. She said: “It’s great that this is bringing the whole street together. I’m sure we’ll be having a party and congratulating each other in the coming days and weeks”
Anne Bennett, Lesley Moody, Andrew Daniels, Candice Jennings also pocketed cheques for £125,000. The remaining winners weren’t available to collect their prizes in person, however, their winnings will be paid into their bank accounts.

Hide AdThis is the second time that the Nottinghamshire town has welcomed the multi-million-pound prize. In July 2016, there were 276 Postcode Millions winners from NG18 3 postcodes. This second lucky streak extended to a player who was not only a 2016 winner but also collected a cash boost this time round too after moving house, bringing the lucky Kingfisher Road resident’s total Postcode Lottery prize winnings to over £7,000.
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Danyl Johnson, said: “It’s always brilliant to meet our players, present them with their cheques and find out how much their win means to them. This time it was doubly special as Postcode Millions brought us back to Mansfield for a second time! I’m sure they will all enjoy spending their winnings – congratulations again to all of our lucky Mansfield winners from NG19 6 postcodes.”
A minimum of 32 per cent of every ticket goes to charity and so far players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £330 million for 4,000 charities and good causes.
Funding from People’s Postcode Lottery has helped support a number of local good causes in and around Nottinghamshire. Including The Youth Zone Project, which received over £11,000 to fund their Mansfield Life Skills initiative. A project which supports young homeless people, helping them to develop social, personal and practical life skills through creative and outdoor focused educational activities.
