The Mansfield Park Run was founded last year by keen enthusiasts who thought it would be a great idea to bring together an international scheme to the local area.

And that is exactly what it has done.

Rachael Chadwick, events organiser for the volunteer run group, said people from as far away as Lincoln will travel to take part in the weekly 5km run.

The run is for all ages and abilities and can either be timed to achieve a personal best or ran freely.

Mrs Chadwick said: “Although its an international scheme, everyone comments on the great atmosphere and vibe at Mansfield’s park run.

“We make everyone welcome and it’s a great place to pick up tips on how you can improve your running, socialise or beat your PB.

“We have all ages and abilities come, there is an 80-year-old gentleman who comes regular andbabies are often pushed round in their prams.”

The run will celebrate its first anniversary on Saturday 28th September. New and old runners can head down to the Manor Complex at 9am and run freely after registering for free online at www.parkrun.org.uk/register.

The run takes place every Saturday at the complex on Kingsley Avenue in Mansfield Woodhouse. Volunteers are also needed each week to marshal the runs, anyone interested should contact [email protected]

To celebrate its birthday, Mansfield Park Run is hoping to have live music. If any local artists are interested in volunteering their time please contact Rachael on 01623 644 149.
