Mansfield Rotary Club boost Portland College fundraising campaign

Mansfield Rotary Club has donated more than £1,000 to a campaign aimed at transforming disabled sports facilities across the district.

The cashpot has been given to Portland College’s massive £2m fundraising campaign to build a new state-of-the-art sports centre to serve grassroots and competitive sports stars as well as community groups across Mansfield and Ashfield.

Representing the club, Rotarians John Whiteley, the current President and Paul Bacon, former President, handed over a cheque for £1068.00 to College Principal Dr Mark Dale and fundraising executive Tracey Horton.

The cash was raised by the Rotary Club at an event hosted at Thoresby Park, which featured the Ashfield School Choir singing pieces from Les Miserables, with the choristers cunningly disguised as waitresses until the moment they burst into song!

Mr Whitely said : “We had a lovely time at the event which was great fun and the sun shone throughout. We are glad to be able to make this donation and support Portland’s efforts towards the new Sports Academy.”

Donations to the Inclusive Sports Academy appeal can be made by calling the fundraising team at Portland College on 01623 499141 or by visiting www.portland.ac.uk or by cheque. Donations can be made by cheque, payable to Portland College or via http://www.justgiving.com/portlandcollege. Are you planning a fundraising event to help this campaign?
